Its been a while

I haven't posted in quite a while and I apologize to those who anticipate my posts(ha). Basically my life has been a whirlwind of change(for the better). Angie is going to be having our fourth child any day now. I have been very busy pursuing my degree in Microcomputer Programming while working full time as well as supporting Angie and the kids in Home School.
I also have a confession to make. Over the past year or so I haven't exactly been living up to the title of this blog, Sowing Generously. Sometimes you know what is right and you know the answers but they aren't being applied in your life. That was me. I was not giving the way we are called to give because doubt crept in to my thinking. A couple bad decisions combined with some very trying circumstances caused 2007 to be a very rough year financially. We spent 2008 trying to build back all that was lost in 2007, but there were some times when I was trusting more in myself than in the Lord to fix things. This manifested itself in a less than giving spirit.
Thankfully the Lord used a few sermons from pastor Frank on Biblical Giving to convict me and cause me to confess my sin. Nothing he said was really new, in fact I have posted similar messages on this blog, but it was what I needed to hear.
Thats all I have time for now.

Support for Friends

I wanted to take a moment to let people know where I stand. A good friend and colleague
of mine, Jack Weinzierl, has had a constant barrage of criticism and hate thrown at him over the past couple years. I have known Jack for a couple years myself and his guidance and friendship has been very helpful to me. I have never known him to be deceptive and has always went out of his way to help others.
Since I am a part of Advantage Conferences and consider Jack and Tim Darnell Friends, I began receiving emails and phone calls from people trying to tell me how evil these two individuals are, and throwing out a bunch of twisted or completely false evidence to prove their claims. I looked at their "evidence" and then rejected it because it didn't and doesn't hold water, and because I know Jack Weinzierl and Tim Darnell personally. I am not a gullible person. In fact I would say I have a pretty good sense of when someone is trying to lie, or deceive me. The people that gave me a sense of deception were not Jack Weinzierl or Tim Darnell, but a woman whom calls herself Elizabeth Templin(her real name is Heather Dobrott, hows that for sincerity).

I just wanted to say that I stand by Jack Weinzierl as a friend. He and his family are going through a really tough time. People read things on the internet and assume that the person is telling the truth. I encourage you to look to the source before you believe anything on the internet. If you want to know the truth about a person, try contacting that person yourself, then make an informed decision.

Who is in control of your business?

This time of year is just crazy for me. I am in the motorsports business, and it is full of procrastinators. Many of my clients like to wait until racing season is near before they bring in their parts for work. I have tried to stress that they bring their parts as early as possible, but this doesn't always happen.

I then find myself allowing the customer to dictate my schedule, because I want to do a great job for them and have their parts ready to go for the beginning of the racing season. Obviously this creates a big problem. I have been pushing all other priorities out of the way to make more time for the procrastinators. I am in a sense enabling them.

Not any more! If a customer comes to me and gives me a deadline that won't work with my schedule, I am not going to move other things to make it work. I am simply going to let them know that the work will be done in the order it was received and next time they need to bring it in sooner. I may lose a few customers, but it will pay off in the long run.

What is the morale of the story? We own our business', not the customers. As business owners we want to serve the client as best as possible, but WE determine how it plays out.

Jesus took time to be with his closest friends, and to be alone to rest and pray. I am sure he was tempted just to keep on preaching and healing constantly, but he knew that was not the right way to live. Lets use Christ's example in our business' schedule.

Blessed beyond Measure!

Today was a great day. The weather was beautiful, the Kids were playing in the yard all day, and I was working out in the garage. My wife Angie spent the afternoon working on her book. Today I saw the Lord. Today I felt the Lord Ministering to me. Not with some major revelation through scripture, or the words of a Godly person, but simply through Life, and Living. Why was today different? I guess it was because I was looking for God in everything, and not focused on "me". Last Thursday on the Mindset Call Tim Darnell was talking about the Apostle Paul having Joy in all circumstances. We can have that Joy when we are Looking "up" at the Savior and not all around, or at ourselves. It is a simple concept, but it isn't always easy. Only through daily prayer and Time with the Word can we prepare our hearts for a Joy-filled day.
Be Blessed

Good, Clean Water

Proverbs 25:26 "If the Godly compromise with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring."(New Living Translation)

I was reading Proverbs 25 this morning and this verse really struck me. In the world we live in compromise is expected, and can be a good thing. But when it comes to the things of God, there can be no compromise.
God has called us to be salt and light to the world, to be in the world but not of the world. I noticed in this verse when we compromise with the wicked, only the Godly suffer. Our water supply gets contaminated, making us like the wicked.

As we interact with the world today, lets make sure we are showing love to others, but at the same time standing up for TRUTH.

Taking the next Step

Sometimes the next step is the hardest to take. Sometimes I try to jump past the next step or two and get ahead of myself.
The best step to take is the next one

We should not linger on the last step we took, but focus on the one we are taking.
As we are moving forward, looking behind can be dangerous.
We need to periodically look farther ahead to make sure we are going down the best path, but then get back to the world right in front of us.
